Public Notice
Notice of Hearing Proposed establishment of a Transportation Benefit District
Pursuant to RCW 36.73.050, the Waitsburg City Council will hold a public hearing on the 18th day of January 2012, at 7:00 P.M. or as soon thereafter as this matter may be heard at the Waitsburg City Council
Chambers at 349 E. 10th Ave Waitsburg, Washington. This public hearing will consider the establishment of a Transportation Benefit District, its boundaries and functions, as well as the period to be set for
dissolution of the District and the activities proposed to be funded.
Among the proposed functions and activities to be considered by the City Council will be the raising of revenues by the District through a sales and use tax in accordance with RCW 82.14.0455, as well as any other
lawful funding sources available to the District pursuant to RCW 36.73.040; specifically the establishment of a car tab registration fee. The City Council will also consider having the District fund, invest in,
design, construct, operate, preserve and maintain projects which are identified or contained in either the City of Waitsburg's Comprehensive Transportation Program, also known as the City's six year transportation
improvement plan, the Regional Transportation Plan for the Tri-Cities Metropolitan Area and the Benton-Franklin-Walla Walla RTPO, or the Washington Transportation Plan adopted by the Washington Transportation
Commission.
The City Council shall hear objections at the time of hearing from any person affected by the formation of the proposed District. Following the hearing, the City Council may establish the District by ordinance
if it finds the action to be in the public interest. Any expansion of the functions and activities beyond those expressly set forth in this Notice of Hearing will require a new notice and public hearing.
