Project Description In 2002/2003 the City constructed a new wastewater treatment facility to
replace the existing system that was originally built in the 1950s. The completion of these facilities was the culmination of an effort that began in 1998 when the Washington State Department of
Ecology identified severe problems at the existing facility. The new facilities include an influent lift station, grit
channels, mechanical screening, an oxidation ditch, two secondary clarifiers, an ultraviolet disinfection system, aerobic digesters, sludge pumping and dewatering equipment, and a new operations building and
laboratory. This work was funded by the USDA Rural Development – Rural Utilities Service, the Washington State Public Works Trust Fund and the City of Waitsburg. The attached picture is an aerial
view of the completed wastewater treatment facility. Staff If you have questions about this facility please contact the City of Waitsburg or Anderson Perry & Associates, Inc. Keith Olson, P.E. Principal (509) 529-9260 E-mail: kolson@andersonperry.com |
